1900 Renovation

Historic Renovation

The project is a two-story residence built in 1900 located at 204 West Gale Street, Edenton, North Carolina. It is within the Edenton Historic District which contains a nationally recognized collection of 18 th , 19 th and 20 th Century residential and commercial buildings.

The building has a gable front that was particularly suited for narrow urban lots that were traditionally seen in the region. The design intent was to retain the original elements of the building exterior and as many features of the building's interior as possible. Materials were carefully chosen to reflect the style and era of the house.

The renovated building is a worthy addition to both the street and Town of Edenton. It is an outstanding example of what can be done to re-use dwellings that have been in disrepair and in a manner that is both practical as well as true to the architecture of the era.

The project has been approved for both N.C. and Federal Historic Preservation tax credits.
